Jan 16, (V7N) - Golam Sarwar, Director of the Finance and Accounts Department at Rabindra University in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj, has been temporarily suspended for including the slogan "We will build a country through education, Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh" in an official notice.
The suspension was confirmed on Thursday (January 16) by the university's Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Acting Registrar, Professor Dr. Suman Kanti Barua. Following an emergency meeting on Wednesday afternoon, the university authorities decided to suspend Golam Sarwar, and a formal office order was issued that evening.
According to the order, signed by Professor Barua, the use of a prohibited logo containing government slogans from the administration ousted during the mass uprising was a violation of Section 4 of the university's Code of Conduct for Teachers, Officers, and Employees. Consequently, Sarwar was suspended under Section 11 (7) of the university's regulations. During his suspension, he will receive a subsistence allowance in line with institutional rules.
The suspension took immediate effect from Wednesday afternoon.
The controversy began after a circular, signed by Golam Sarwar on January 13, featured the controversial slogan alongside the official logo. This prompted students to file a formal complaint, demanding action against Sarwar. University authorities later confirmed the allegations with supporting evidence.
