Jhalkathi, Feb 27 (V7N) – In a shocking incident in Kathalia, a woman named Dalia Begum (32) has accused four individuals of poisoning her ducks and chickens with pesticide due to a land dispute.

The incident took place on the morning of Wednesday, February 26, in the Patikhalthata village of the Kathalia upazila. Dalia Begum filed a written complaint with the police, naming four suspects.

According to the complaint, a long-standing land dispute exists between Abdul Rahman Khan of Patikhalthata village and Shahin Khan, a relative of the same family. In retaliation, the accused allegedly mixed pesticide with food and scattered it near the house. The next morning, Dalia's 7 ducks and 16 chickens consumed the poisoned food and died on the spot.

Dalia also mentioned in her complaint that her husband, Shahin Khan, works for a private company in Dhaka, which left her vulnerable to the accused who took advantage of the situation to illegally seize their land. When asked to vacate the land, they reportedly threatened her with harm.

Distraught, Dalia Begum broke down in tears as she witnessed her ducks and chickens writhing in pain and dying before her eyes.

Abdul Rahman Khan, when confronted, acknowledged the land dispute but denied any involvement in the deaths of the ducks and chickens.

Kathalia Police Station's Officer-in-Charge, Mongchenla, confirmed receiving the complaint and assured that an investigation was underway.
