Rajshahi, Sep 04  (V7N) - In Rajshahi, efforts to recover 256 missing firearms and 650 rounds of ammunition have commenced. A joint task force operation began on Tuesday night to address these issues and arrest drug lords and terrorists.
 
The new Police Superintendent of Rajshahi, Md. Anisuzzaman, provided these details during a press briefing at his office this afternoon, with other senior district police officials present.
 
SP Anisuzzaman stated that of the 256 missing firearms, 98 were looted from various stations of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP). Additionally, 158 licensed firearms held by significant individuals have not been returned as required.
 
He further reported that no firearms were stolen from district police stations, but 650 rounds of ammunition have gone missing and 11 vehicles have been damaged. The joint task force will begin operations tonight to recover the missing weapons and capture those responsible.
 
The operation will involve the Army, RAB, BGB, Police, Ansar, and district administrative magistrates, working together to recover the weapons and apprehend the criminals.
 
SP Anisuzzaman called for public support in maintaining law and order. He addressed the current situation, mentioning that many police officers have fled, but those remaining have committed no crimes. He promised that with increased patrols and enhanced police activity starting tomorrow, incidents of theft, robbery, and hijacking will be effectively managed.
