Kushtia, Oct 05 (V7N)- The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University (IU), Professor Dr. Naqib Mohammad Nasrullah , shared his vision of a vibrant academic culture during an event organized by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Student Chapter at the university. Addressing attendees at the Microbiology Quiz Competition 2024 prize distribution ceremony, Dr. Nasrullah expressed his hope that, during class hours, campuses would be empty as all students would be in their classrooms fully engaged in their studies.
The event, held at room 102 of the Nuclear Scientist Dr. MA Wazed Miah Science Building , saw the participation of various esteemed guests. Among them were Prof. Dr. Md. Rezwanul Islam , Dean of the Faculty of Biology, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Minnatul Karim , ASM Country Director and Chair of the event. Also present were Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and ASM IU Chapter President Shovon Saha , who delivered a presentation.
In his speech, Dr. Nasrullah emphasized the importance of fostering a strong research culture at IU, stating, "I will try to increase the incentives for those conducting research and publishing journals in this university." He also urged teachers to focus on building strong, cordial relationships with their students, as it is essential for creating an environment where real learning can take place.
The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged faculty members to avoid becoming preoccupied with administrative titles or positions, stating, "Post-positions come automatically. Teachers should not be greedy for titles but should aim to be good educators and mentors."
Dr. Nasrullah's message resonated strongly with students and faculty alike, as he sought their cooperation in creating a supportive academic environment that promotes research and innovation. His words left a lasting impression, underscoring the need for collaboration between students and teachers in pursuit of academic excellence.
The event concluded with the distribution of crests and certificates to the winners of the Microbiology Quiz Competition 2024 . The ceremony, moderated by ASM Student Chapter Secretary Abu Reza and Udisa Islam Subah , highlighted the achievements of the students, adding to the sense of excitement and accomplishment.
