Teknaf, July 3 (V7N) – The first day of the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations passed peacefully and in a festive atmosphere in Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar district, with 25 candidates absent from the examinations, local authorities said.

According to examination centre officials, a total of 1,323 candidates are sitting for the HSC and equivalent examinations in Teknaf this year, including 670 male and 653 female students from three colleges and three madrasas. The examinations are being held at four centres across the upazila.

Officials said 25 candidates were absent on the opening day, comprising nine male and 16 female students.

At Rangikhali Darul Ulum Fazil Degree Madrasa Centre, two male and six female candidates were absent. At Ejahar Girls' High School Centre, four male and six female candidates did not appear, while Hnila Girls' High School Centre recorded the absence of two male and three female students. One candidate was also absent from Teknaf Government Technical School and College Centre.

On the first day, HSC candidates sat for the Bangla First Paper examination, while madrasa students took the Quran Majid examination and technical education candidates appeared for the Bangla Second Paper examination.

According to the Upazila administration, 759 candidates from Teknaf Degree College are registered at Ejahar Girls' High School Centre, including 400 male and 359 female students. Hnila Girls' High School Centre is hosting 292 candidates from Mainuddin Memorial College, including 137 male and 155 female students.

Meanwhile, 196 candidates from Rangikhali Fazil Degree Madrasa, Hnila Shah Majidia Islamia Senior Madrasa and Zamiria Darul Quran Alim Madrasa are taking examinations at Rangikhali Darul Ulum Fazil Degree Madrasa Centre. The centre has 76 male and 120 female candidates.

At Teknaf Government Technical School and College Centre, 76 candidates are sitting for the examinations, including 57 male and 19 female students.

The Upazila administration has deployed executive officials at each examination centre to oversee the process and ensure smooth conduct of the examinations.

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S.M. Anik Chowdhury said the first day's examinations concluded in a peaceful, orderly and well-managed environment. He expressed optimism that the remaining examinations would also be held smoothly and said law enforcement agencies had been instructed to maintain security and public order inside and outside all examination centres.
