Dhaka, 18 July — In light of the escalating unrest across the country stemming from the quota reform movement, the Bangladesh Inter-education Board Coordination Committee has announced the postponement of HSC and equivalent examinations scheduled for July 21, 23, and 25.

According to a circular signed by Tapan Kumar Sarkar, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Education Board, the postponement aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students amidst the current volatile situation.

The circular states that the new schedule for the postponed examinations will be communicated later through an official notification. However, other examinations scheduled after July 25 will proceed as per the previously announced timetable, with exams set to resume from July 28 onwards.

Thursday witnessed widespread violence and clashes in various parts of Bangladesh, including the capital city Dhaka, prompted by the quota reform protests. In response to the deteriorating security situation, all public and private universities had already been closed since Wednesday.

In addition to the postponement of examinations, all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions, including schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical institutes under the Ministry of Education, along with polytechnic institutes and primary schools in city corporation areas, have been declared closed until further notice.

The decision to postpone HSC and equivalent examinations underscores the authorities' prioritization of student safety amid ongoing unrest. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee's commitment to notifying the revised examination schedule aims to minimize disruption to academic activities while ensuring a secure environment for students.
