Barisal, July 28 — Students of Barisal University have announced four new demands, emphasizing the swift implementation of their eight-point demands concerning the quota reform movement. These new demands were articulated during a press conference held on the ground floor of the administrative building of Barisal University on Saturday afternoon.

University coordinator Sujoy Shubo highlighted the peaceful nature of their protests, which began on July 1, advocating for quota reform in government jobs. Shubo noted that the court had already ruled in their favor and issued a notification to that effect. He expressed concern over the injuries and deaths of fellow students during various incidents across the country, stressing that their movement is not associated with terrorism or violence.

The four new demands made by Shubo are:

1. Reopening of Dormitories : The immediate reopening of student halls to provide accommodation for the protesting students.

2. Protection of Local Residents : Assurance that the general public in the areas surrounding the university will not be harassed or implicated in any cases related to the protests.

3. Non-Harassment by Law Enforcement : A commitment that students will not face harassment by law enforcement agencies at their current and permanent addresses.

4.Ensuring a Safe and Democratic Campus Environment : The establishment of a safe and democratic environment within the university campus.

Shubo reiterated that the movement has not been suspended despite the university's closure and current circumstances. He indicated that future actions would be announced based on the consensus of protesting students nationwide.

The press conference was attended by key figures of the quota reform movement at Barisal University, including Mahmudul Alam Rajib, Preo Sarkar, Sirajul Islam, and others.
