Peru, Feb 17, (V7N) - Shakira, the Colombian pop sensation, was forced to cancel her Sunday concert in Lima, Peru, after being hospitalized with an unspecified abdominal condition. The 48-year-old singer, who kicked off her world tour earlier this week, shared the news with her fans on Instagram, expressing her regret over the cancellation.
The "Hips Don't Lie" singer wrote on her Instagram Story in Spanish, explaining that the doctors had informed her she was not in a condition to perform that evening. Shakira reassured fans that the concert would be postponed to a later date and her team was working with the event organizers to reschedule.
The pop star, clearly disappointed, shared her sadness about not being able to perform. She wrote, "I've been so emotional and excited to meet again with my beloved Peruvian fans," and added that she hoped to recover soon so she could perform for her fans. "I hope to be better tomorrow and that they discharge me as soon as possible so I'm able to perform the show I've prepared for all of you," she concluded.
Shakira had launched her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour earlier this week in Rio de Janeiro, performing for a highly enthusiastic crowd. Her subsequent performance in São Paulo on Thursday followed her successful Rio show. After her Rio performance, she expressed her gratitude to the crowd, writing, "Rio! I couldn't have asked for a better crowd to kick off the tour! Thank you for all your love, warmth, and energy on an unforgettable night!"
The tour is in support of Shakira's latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which has received widespread acclaim. The album, her first since her public breakup with Gerard Piqué, has topped charts and produced six No. 1 hits. Earlier this month, the album won Shakira the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
Shakira's next concert is scheduled for Monday at Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, and fans are hoping for her quick recovery so she can return to the stage soon.
