California, Feb 19, (V7N) – A$AP Rocky has been found not guilty of shooting at his former friend, A$AP Relli, in a 2021 incident. After three weeks of testimony, the jury acquitted the Grammy-nominated rapper of all criminal charges related to the incident, which took place in Hollywood, California. Rocky had been charged with two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was facing up to 24 years in prison if convicted. The verdict came after deliberations on Tuesday, and he was visibly relieved as he leapt into the audience, where his family was seated, after hearing the not guilty verdict.
The prosecution had accused Rocky of brandishing a gun and firing shots that grazed Ephron’s knuckles. However, his defense attorney argued that the weapon was only a prop gun. The jury also heard testimony from Ephron, who was at times contradictory in his statements, which likely influenced the outcome of the case.
In addition to the criminal case, Rocky is also facing a separate civil lawsuit filed by Ephron.
Rocky’s partner, Rihanna, and their two children were among those in attendance during the trial.
