Dhaka, Feb 27 (V7N) – Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said all members of the Bangladesh Army must be prepared to fulfil their highest responsibilities whenever the nation requires.
The army chief made the statement during a ceremony of the seventh colonel of the regiment at the parade ground of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre in Rajshahi Cantonment on Thursday morning.
Through this event, General Waker formally assumed the guardianship of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre.
He said the Infantry Regiment had been carrying out its duties with great responsibility since 1971, adding that the regiment would be developed into a more modern and capable force in the future.
The army chief urged all members of the regiment to remain ever-prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century through modern and relevant training.
Senior officials from the Army Headquarters and the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment, among others, attended the event.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the ground, the army chief was formally greeted with a military salute following traditional protocol. He was then adorned with the colonel rank badge.
