Dhaka, Apr 10 (V7N)– The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has unveiled its comprehensive security measures aimed at ensuring a peaceful and festive celebration of Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year 1432, on April 14th. This announcement was made today by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali while chairing a security coordination meeting at the DMP headquarters.

"Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today said they have a plan to take comprehensive security measures for peaceful and festive celebration of the Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year- 1432," a DMP spokesperson confirmed.

Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali emphasized that Pahela Baishakh is a universal festival in Bangladesh, and like every year, numerous organizations will host various events across Dhaka Metropolitan areas to mark the occasion. The DMP's security plan is designed to facilitate these celebrations in a safe and traditional atmosphere.

"'We have planned to take comprehensive security measures to celebrate Pahela Baishakh in the capital safely in traditional enthusiasm and festive atmosphere,' he said while presiding over a security coordination meeting held at the conference room of the DMP headquarters. The DMP chief said Pahela Baishakh is the festival of all and like every year, various events will be held by various organizations at different places in Dhaka Metropolitan areas on the occasion to be celebrated on April 14," the DMP Commissioner stated.

The security coordination meeting saw participation from a wide array of stakeholders, including representatives from various intelligence agencies, specialized units of the police, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Department of Health, Dhaka South and North City Corporations, Fire Service and Civil Defence, DPDC (Dhaka Power Distribution Company), WASA (Water Supply and Sewerage Authority), the Proctor of Dhaka University, Public Works Department, Bangla Academy, the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote (United Cultural Alliance), Chhayanaut (a cultural organization), Rishi Shilpagosti (an artistic group), Shakyamuni Buddhist temple, and representatives from various government and private organizations.

"The coordination meeting was attended by representatives of various intelligence agencies including representatives of various specialized units of the police, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Department of Health, Dhaka South and North City Corporations, Fire Service and Civil Defence, DPDC, WASA, Proctor of Dhaka University, Public Works, Bangla Academy, Faculty of Fine Arts of DU, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Chhayanaut, Rishi Shilpagosti, Shakyamuni Buddhist temple and representatives of various governments and private organizations," a DMP press release detailed.

At the outset of the meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented a comprehensive overview of the security plan through a power point presentation, outlining the strategies and deployment for the upcoming festival.

Senior officials of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police were also present at the meeting, including Additional Police Commissioners overseeing traffic, detective branch, and crime and operations, as well as the DIG (Operations) from the Police Headquarters, Joint Police Commissioners, and Deputy Police Commissioners.

"DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sarwar, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, DIG (Operations) of Police Headquarters, Md. Rezaul Karim, Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners and senior police officials were present," the DMP reported.
