Dhaka, Dec 24 (V7N)- Police have arrested Ataur Rahman Vikrampuri, a well-known figure on social media, in connection with allegations of provocative online activities.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that members of the Detective Branch (DB) arrested Vikrampuri from Narsingdi. The arrest was carried out at the request of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), to whom he has since been handed over.

According to police sources, Vikrampuri will be produced before the court shortly.

Law enforcement officials stated that over the past several days, Vikrampuri had posted content on his Facebook page that appeared to justify or support attacks on media outlets. In one recent post, he reportedly mocked the police over their failure to arrest the alleged killer of Osman Hadi.

In another post, he wrote: “You asked whether I need a gunman. I said I don’t trust men—only guns.” The post drew widespread attention and criticism on social media.

Police said the arrest was made as part of ongoing legal proceedings and investigations into activities that may incite violence or create public disorder.

Further details are expected after he is produced before the court.
