Cox’s Bazar, July 19 (V7N) — The Cox’s Bazar district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has strongly condemned the derogatory, indecent, and politically improper remarks made against Salahuddin Ahmed, former minister and member of BNP’s highest policymaking body, the National Standing Committee, during a recent National Citizens Party (NCP) rally. The BNP leaders have demanded that NCP leader Nasir Uddin Patwari and his party immediately retract these statements and apologize to the nation.

In an official statement, Shahjahan Chowdhury, President of Cox’s Bazar BNP, and Advocate Shamim Ara Shopna, General Secretary, described Salahuddin Ahmed as a leader of the people, deeply loved by all generations—from the young to the elderly. They emphasized that Salahuddin Ahmed is a son of this land and a national treasure, respected not only in Cox’s Bazar but throughout Bangladesh.

They stated, “Salahuddin Ahmed is a fearless warrior in the political arena, who has sacrificed much for the nation and nationalist politics. The fascist Hasina government even attempted to erase him through enforced disappearance. Miraculously, he survived and endured nine years in exile, during which the entire nation awaited his return.”

The BNP leaders added, “In times of national crisis, Salahuddin Ahmed has always returned to lead. No political opponent has the right to make such vulgar and unfounded statements against such a national leader. This kind of behavior is harmful to the spirit of politics.”

They further warned that such false, fabricated, and disrespectful remarks risk undermining national unity and progress—something that is unacceptable.
