Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N)- The Election Commission has announced that by-elections for the Bogra-6 and Sherpur-3 parliamentary constituencies will be held on April 9.

According to the EC, submission of nomination papers begins today, Tuesday (February 24), marking the start of the formal election process.

Why the Seats Fell Vacant

The election in Sherpur-3 was postponed earlier, on February 4, after the death of Jamaat-nominated candidate Nuruzzaman Badal on February 3, just ahead of the 13th National Parliament election.

Meanwhile, Tarique Rahman, who won from both Bogra-6 and Dhaka-17, vacated the Bogra-6 seat in line with electoral rules requiring a candidate to retain only one constituency.

Election Preparations Underway

With the schedule now in effect, election officials are expected to proceed with candidate nominations, scrutiny, and other preparatory steps leading up to polling day.
