Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader, denounced the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) as the bastion of communalism and militancy sponsorship during a discussion meeting organized by Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League on the occasion of Bengali New Year 1431 celebrations.
Quader asserted that BNP represents a threat to Bengali culture and harbors nostalgia for Pakistan, emphasizing their opposition to the spirit of Baisakh. He highlighted their alleged inability to tolerate Bengali traditions and values.
The discussion meeting, held at Bahadur Shah Park, saw participation from prominent Awami League leaders including Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, and Women Awami League President Meher Afroz Chumki. Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League General Secretary Sajal Kundu, Jagannath University Chhatra League President Akter Hossain, and Awami League Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan also voiced their perspectives.
General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League, Humayun Kabir, presided over the meeting, which served as a platform to underscore the significance of Bengali culture and unity in the face of perceived threats.
