Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the senior joint secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), charged on Monday that India was interfering unnecessarily with Bangladesh's political destiny to strengthen ties with the Awami League.

"India's relationship with Bangladesh is growing from strength to strength," stated Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar during a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh's dummy government in Uganda.

Rizvi stated that Jaishankar's claim was only partially accurate during a press conference held at the BNP's headquarters office in Nayapaltan.

"India and the Awami League have strengthened their relationship, but not with the people of Bangladesh." Because of India's excessive meddling in deciding Bangladesh's future and political direction as part of its attempts to fortify ties with the Awami League, the people of Bangladesh have lost their democracy, freedom of speech, and right to vote, he noted.

The leader of the BNP claimed that chaos reigns throughout the nation since the Awami League, a usurped without, had taken over without popular vote.

He criticized the administration for the country's worsening gas and electricity crises and demanded an explanation, given that the ruling party has been talking about tremendous development.

The leader of the BNP claimed that the government had made Bangladesh, a developing nation, into an import-dependent nation.

Declaring that a person's ability to vote is a necessary condition for their empowerment, Rizvi added that the BNP and other democratic parties continue to be active in the community to support the restoration of 12 crore citizens' voting rights.


He said, "Our movement will not stop until the people's stolen voting rights are restored and the nation is released from the clutches of corrupt Awami oligarchs."

The BNP leader claimed that while conducting a sham election, the government had detained hundreds of BNP leaders and employees for three to four months. "Physical torture has claimed the lives of some leaders and campaigners and left others maimed while others have died in prison. Torture of leaders and workers of oppression while in detention and while on remand has reached unprecedented heights.

He urged the government to permit BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to get cutting-edge medical care overseas, and he demanded her unconditional release.

During the press briefing, Rizvi displayed the list of BNP leaders incarcerated, which included the party's secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and he urged that the government free them by dropping the "false and fabricated" cases that had been brought against them.
