Dhaka, August 01- Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader stated that militant groups infiltrated the quota reform movement's processions, leading to shootings and the deaths of several individuals. Speaking at a press conference in Dhanmondi on Thursday, Quader emphasized that an investigation is ongoing to determine how bullets struck children in the head or eyes.

He accused BNP-Jamaat terrorists of orchestrating chaos nationwide with the aim of seizing power, alleging that their leaders, operating from London, incited and directed the killings.

Quader denied allegations that law enforcement agencies were instructed to fire on sight or that the army was involved in shootings. He called for law enforcement to avoid harassing innocent individuals during the investigation.

Addressing the role of the military, Quader clarified that their deployment was intended to protect lives and property, rather than to impose a curfew.

Quader also criticized Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, accusing him of making statements that could be construed as treasonous under the Bangladeshi constitution. He condemned Yunus's call for international intervention in Bangladesh, suggesting that it diminishes the country's standing on the global stage. Quader argued that Yunus's statements, which included a call for mid-term elections, were unconstitutional and seemed to be an attempt to avoid ongoing legal proceedings against him in Bangladesh.
