Chittagong, Sep 07 (V7N)— Former captain of the Bangladesh national football team, Mamunul Islam Mamun, faced an attack on his home in Chittagong on Friday night. The incident reportedly occurred after Mamunul successfully prevented a group of miscreants from occupying a piece of land, leading to a retaliatory ambush.

Zahid Hasan, another former national footballer and a close friend of Mamunul, confirmed the attack. Mamunul is currently residing at his home in the Sadarghat area of Chittagong, where the attack took place. It is alleged that the same group of individuals returned after being stopped from seizing the land.

Following the attack, Mamunul's fellow footballer, Emily, posted a status on social media after receiving a call from his friend, expressing concern over the incident. The status quickly caught the attention of the sports community, with Mamunul being one of Bangladesh's top footballers and Emily a former star in the sport.

Local authorities have yet to comment on the situation, but the incident has raised alarm in the footballing community.
