Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has been remanded to jail in connection with India's Excise policy scam case. He will remain incarcerated until April 15, following a court order issued on Monday.

Kejriwal was brought before Delhi's Rouse Avenue court after the expiration of his remand period. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not seek further custody for Kejriwal, stating that custodial interrogation was unnecessary at this time, as reported by NDTV.

Subsequently, Judge Kaveri Bajewa ordered Kejriwal to be placed in 14-day jail custody, and he was subsequently transferred to Tihar Jail following the court's directive.

However, before being taken into custody, the court permitted Kejriwal to meet with his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, as well as ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj.

Kejriwal's arrest stems from the Delhi Excise corruption case, for which he was apprehended from his residence on March 21. Despite being summoned nine times by the commission in connection with the case, Kejriwal failed to appear for questioning. Subsequently, he was arrested following an ED search of his residence.

In response to his arrest, Kejriwal has approached the Delhi High Court to challenge the ED's actions. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 4.

Kejriwal has denounced his arrest as a political conspiracy orchestrated ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His detention has sparked protests across Delhi, with international entities such as Germany, America, and the United Nations expressing concerns over the incident.
