Frustrated by the prolonged unavailability of uniforms in Bavaria, Germany, police personnel have taken to a unique form of protest: patrolling in uniform without pants. In a video released by the German Police Union, officers can be seen donning their uniforms minus the essential attire.

The shortage of uniforms has left officers waiting for an extended period, prompting them to resort to this attention-grabbing demonstration. The state chapter of the police union shared the video on YouTube and Instagram, showcasing officers clad in incomplete uniforms, driving patrol cars, and discussing the prolonged wait for adequate attire.

Jürgen Kohlein, chairman of the union, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, "You may think this is a bad April Fool's joke. But actually, there is nothing to laugh about. The appalling lack of uniform is actually a disservice to police officers." Kohlein highlighted the shortage of 21 essential uniform items, including caps, jackets, and pants, which has persisted for months without resolution.

The police union has called on the state home ministry to urgently address the issue, warning of potential additional costs incurred by officers due to the uniform shortage. They underscored that the uniform scarcity, which has persisted since 2020, has now reached a critical point, necessitating immediate action.

Responding to the outcry, a spokesperson for the Home Ministry acknowledged the problem, attributing it to disruptions in the supply sector. Assuring prompt action, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs pledged to take personal responsibility for ensuring the timely delivery of uniforms to officers moving forward.
