The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) has claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting an oil refinery in Haifa, an Israeli-occupied territory. The organization stated that the attack was carried out in response to the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip and in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

According to a statement released on a social media Telegram channel early Saturday morning, the IRI launched the drone attack against the oil refinery in Haifa to support the people of Gaza and retaliate against the Israeli massacre of unarmed Palestinian civilians. The organization emphasized its commitment to continuing strikes against Israeli strongholds as part of the second phase of resistance to Israeli occupation.

While the IRI claimed responsibility for the attack, Tel Aviv has not provided any information regarding casualties or damage resulting from the drone strike.

This recent attack follows previous actions by Iraqi resistance forces, including a strike on an Israeli airbase and the city of Ashdod in the occupied territory. Last Wednesday, the Iraqi resistance targeted the Ramat David airbase, the Israeli regime's northernmost base with fighter jets and gunships, using drones. Additionally, a key target in Ashdod was hit in a similar drone strike.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian factions escalated on October 7 of last year when the Hamas government of Gaza launched a major military operation against Israel. In response, Israel conducted airstrikes and ground attacks on Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 33,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and injuring more than 75,000 people.

In solidarity with the Palestinians and in protest against the ongoing violence, political organizations in several Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen, have declared war against Israel and vowed to continue attacks until the Gaza massacre ceases.
