Tel Aviv, Jun 08 (V7N) – The Israeli military has said that it has detected several new missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory, marking a fresh escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two regional rivals.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said its air defense systems were actively working to intercept and neutralize the incoming threats.
The latest development comes amid renewed hostilities between Iran and Israel, with both sides exchanging missile attacks in recent hours. Iran launched an operation against Israel on Sunday night, describing it as a response to what it called Israeli aggression in Lebanon.
Following the Iranian missile strikes, Israel carried out retaliatory attacks targeting the Iranian cities of Isfahan and Tabriz. Multiple explosions were reported in both cities, according to local media reports.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the operation served as a warning to Israel over repeated violations of the ceasefire and what it described as the crossing of red lines in Lebanon. The force also warned that continued aggression could trigger larger attacks against Israel and its allies.
Earlier, IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin warned that Iran had made a "grave mistake" by launching attacks on Israeli territory.
The latest exchange of attacks has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, as international observers continue to call for restraint from all parties involved.
