Kharkiv, October 24, 2026 (V7N) – A Ukrainian strike in part of the northeastern Kharkiv region held by Russia killed at least three people and gravely wounded another on Saturday, according to the Moscow-backed authorities.

"Three civilians were killed and a woman was seriously wounded as a result of a strike by a Ukrainian drone on a car in the village of Pisky in the Kharkiv region," Vitaliy Ganchev, a local Russia-installed governor, wrote on Telegram.

There was no immediate comment from Ukrainian authorities, and the reported casualty figures could not be independently verified.

Separately, the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen announced on Saturday that it had intercepted two missiles fired by the Houthis towards its western provinces of Taiz and Yanbu.

Earlier, the Saudi civil defence agency issued alerts for four western areas of the country including Yanbu and Taif. Yanbu is a major oil export hub on the Red Sea coast that has allowed Riyadh to bypass Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The intercepts come amid heightened regional tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has restricted shipping since its war with the United States began in February. The Houthis did not immediately claim responsibility for the missile launches, and no casualties or damage were reported from the intercepted projectiles.

Both incidents underscore the widening security risks across the region, with authorities on alert for further strikes.
