July 10 (V7N)– Iraqi resistance fighters have escalated their attacks on Israeli targets amidst the ongoing Lebanon-Israel tensions. The Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU), a coalition of Iraqi resistance fighters, announced new drone strikes on two strategic locations in Israel.

According to Press TV, an Iranian-based news outlet, the PMU confirmed in a statement that a drone attack targeted a significant site at the port of Haifa, Israel, on Wednesday morning. Additionally, the PMU claimed responsibility for a drone strike on the Aroat Rabin power plant in the Hajera area.

The PMU reported substantial damage to Israeli facilities from these attacks. However, Israeli authorities have not yet commented on the incidents.

The PMU and Yemen's Houthi rebels have been conducting continuous attacks over the past nine months, significantly disrupting operations at the ports of Haifa and Eilat. These actions are part of a broader regional response to the Israel-Gaza conflict that began on October 7 last year, when Hamas launched a large-scale military operation against Israel. Israel responded with extensive airstrikes and ground attacks on Gaza, resulting in over 40,000 Palestinian casualties, primarily women and children, and injuring more than 100,000 people.

In protest of what they describe as an ongoing genocide, several political organizations from the Middle East, including groups from Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen, have declared war against Israel and are carrying out continuous attacks.

The resistance fighters have vowed to continue their attacks on Israel if the situation in Gaza does not improve. In response to Israel's recent threats of an all-out war against Lebanon, Iraqi fighters have pledged to engage directly on behalf of Hezbollah if such an attack occurs.
