New York, Sep 07 (V7N) — The sentencing date for former US President Donald Trump in the case involving hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels has been postponed once again, now set for November 26, after the US presidential election on November 5. The sentencing was initially scheduled for September 18 but was delayed due to Trump's candidacy in the upcoming election.

New York Judge Juan Merchan made the announcement on Friday, marking the second postponement of Trump's sentencing. A previous hearing, originally set for July 11, was also pushed back. The judge emphasised that the delay was intended to avoid any interference with the election process.

Trump faces allegations related to paying $130,000 in hush money to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign. Daniels claims the payment was made to prevent her from speaking out about an alleged affair with Trump in 2006, which Trump has denied. His lawyer at the time, Michael Cohen, allegedly facilitated the payment, and Trump is accused of failing to report the transaction to the Election Commission.

Critics argue that the court’s decision to postpone the sentencing gives Trump an undue political advantage, while Trump and his supporters claim the case has negatively impacted his campaign efforts. Trump has called for the case to be dismissed, asserting that it is interfering with what he describes as the most crucial election in US history.
