Madrid, Sep 12 (V7N)- Spain is set to host a meeting with ministers from Muslim and European countries on Friday to advance the two-state solution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Spanish Foreign Ministry announced that the meeting will gather members of the Arab-Islamic Contact Group for Gaza, including key nations such as Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. The details of individual participants were not disclosed.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will greet the participants at his official residence before the discussions commence at the Foreign Ministry in central Madrid. The talks will be hosted by Spain's Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares. EU Foreign Affairs Chief Josep Borrell is also set to attend.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry emphasized that the meeting aims to strengthen the international community's engagement on peace and security in the Middle East, and to build a consensus on achieving a two-state solution. This meeting is seen as a significant step toward bolstering diplomatic efforts in the region.

Earlier this year, Spain, alongside Ireland and Norway, formally recognized an independent Palestinian state comprising the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Furthermore, Prime Minister Sánchez announced earlier this month that Spain and Palestine would hold their first-ever "bilateral summit" later this year, with plans to sign multiple cooperation agreements.

This ministerial gathering signals Spain's deepening role in Middle Eastern diplomacy, reflecting a commitment to the peace process in the region.
