Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the United States on Sunday to present a strategic plan aimed at ending the two-and-a-half-year conflict with Russia. He will meet with President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Donald Trump, outlining what he calls a "victory plan" for Ukraine.

Zelensky's visit follows months of intense fighting, with Russian forces making advances in eastern Ukraine and Ukrainian troops holding positions in Russia's Kursk region. One of Zelensky's key goals is to persuade the U.S. to allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons to strike targets within Russia, a request that has so far been denied by Western allies.

Zelensky began his U.S. visit by touring a factory in Pennsylvania that manufactures 155mm artillery shells, essential for Ukraine's military efforts. "I started my visit by thanking the workers at the plant for their support," Zelensky said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. He praised the ramped-up production efforts, emphasizing that such support is crucial for the democratic world to prevail.

During his trip, Zelensky will meet with President Biden at the White House on Thursday, where he is expected to make his case for long-range weaponry. Additionally, he will travel to New York and Washington to present his plan to members of Congress, including Harris and Trump. Zelensky has noted that Biden will be the first foreign leader to see the plan in its entirety before it is shared with other allied nations.

The plan, still largely under wraps, is expected to outline steps for strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities and securing its place within global security frameworks. Zelensky also hinted at plans for a second international peace summit in November, though Russia has already declined participation, insisting that Ukraine must surrender four regions as a condition for peace talks.

Amid ongoing conflict, Russian attacks killed six civilians, including two children, over the weekend, while Ukraine's military claimed to have struck key arms depots in Russia, dealing a blow to Russian logistics.
