According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), a mild to moderate heatwave is affecting all divisions of the country, including Dhaka, on Saturday.

"A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping across Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and it may persist," stated the Met office.

In contrast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds, are likely in most areas of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Many areas in Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions can also expect rain with moderately heavy to very heavy falls in some southern regions.

Elsewhere in the country, the weather may remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.

The depression over the East-central Bay and adjoining West-central Bay has moved north-northeastwards and intensified into a deep depression in the same area.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while nighttime temperatures may decrease by 1-2°C across the country.

Due to increased moisture, the discomfort is likely to continue.
