Gwalior, Sep 25 (V7N)- The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has issued a stern threat to disrupt the upcoming T20 series match in Gwalior, scheduled to take place after the Kanpur Test. The organization is protesting the alleged persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, targeting the Bangladesh-India match with a strike call. Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Rohit Sharma are expected to be among the players travelling to Gwalior for the match.
On Tuesday, Indian media outlet PTI reported that Jayveer Bharadwaj, vice president of the Hindu Mahasabha, declared that the match, scheduled for October 6, would not be allowed to proceed in Gwalior. The organization has called for a city-wide bandh (strike) on the same day to protest against Bangladesh. While daily essentials are exempt from the strike, the Hindu Mahasabha has made it clear that they will prevent the match from taking place.
Earlier, the group staged protests in Kanpur, where the second Test between Bangladesh and India is set to be held at Green Park Stadium on September 27. Hindu Mahasabha members lit fires on a road near the stadium, leading to the police filing FIRs against 20 members of the organization.
In response, Kanpur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Harish Chander assured the public that security measures are being strengthened to ensure the safe conduct of the Test match. “We are reviewing the security arrangements thoroughly to ensure there are no disruptions. We are confident that sufficient police forces will be deployed to meet the security requirements,” he stated.
The growing tension surrounding the match has put authorities on high alert, as both the Gwalior T20 and the Kanpur Test face potential disruptions amidst the protests.
The Hindu Mahasabha’s strike call has raised concerns about the impact on public order and the smooth conduct of the matches in both cities.
