Tawhid Hridoy, the rising star of Bangladeshi cricket, scored his first century in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Friday, leading Comilla Victorians to a four-wicket win over Duronto Dhaka in Mirpur. The 22-year-old batsman smashed 108 runs off 57 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes, in a stunning display of skill and determination.

Hridoy's BPL century was a significant milestone in his professional career, but it also reminded him of his remarkable feat in youth cricket. Back in November 2019, he became the only batsman in the history of youth one-day cricket to score a century in three consecutive matches, against Sri Lanka under-19 team. This achievement still holds a special place in his heart, as he cherishes the memories of his age-group success.

Hridoy said he was grateful for the opportunity to make his mark in T20 cricket, which is his favorite format. He said he was focused on achieving the team's target of 176 runs, rather than personal milestones. He said he played with a fearless approach, despite losing early wickets, and partnered well with BPL debutant Brooke Guest. He said he enjoyed taking on the opposition bowlers and changing the momentum of the game.

Hridoy has been in fine form in recognized cricket, scoring three centuries in first-class matches and one in List 'A' cricket. He is the sixth Bangladeshi batsman to score a century in the BPL, and the first in this edition. His century helped Comilla Victorians climb to the second spot in the points table, behind Rangpur Riders.

Hridoy's performance in the BPL is a testament to his talent and potential. He is one of the most promising young cricketers in Bangladesh, and he is determined to keep improving and contributing to his team's success. He is leaving an indelible mark on the cricketing landscape with each innings.
