Sept 28, V7N- The Dallas Cowboys could face a significant challenge ahead as two of their key defensive players, linebacker Micah Parsons and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, are dealing with more serious injuries than initially expected. Head coach Mike McCarthy revealed that Parsons is considered "week-to-week," while Lawrence may miss more time and could potentially be placed on injured reserve due to a sprained foot, which would sideline him for at least four games.

Parsons, who was injured late in the game during the Cowboys' victory over the New York Giants, had negative X-rays on his ankle but was seen limping heavily upon returning to Texas. Following MRI exams, McCarthy acknowledged that the injuries were "worse than we anticipated." Despite this, the Cowboys' vice president, Stephen Jones, mentioned that the team has not ruled out Parsons for Week 5. Parsons briefly left the game due to a neck injury but returned before being carted off with the ankle issue.

DeMarcus Lawrence's injury also raises concerns, and with the possibility of him being placed on injured reserve, the Cowboys could be without a key defensive presence for the next several weeks. Both players are set to get second opinions on their injuries.

The Cowboys are currently 2-2 and have an extended break before their Week 5 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by a tough stretch with games against the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers. With Parsons averaging 13.5 sacks per season and Lawrence being a four-time Pro Bowl selection, the potential absence of these two star defenders could create significant hurdles for the team as they navigate this challenging schedule.
