Sept 29, V7N - Dane Myers powered the Miami Marlins to an 8-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon with a three-run homer and a two-run double. The Marlins secured the win in the second game of their season-ending three-game series, bringing their record to 61-100.

Former Blue Jays prospect Griffin Conine contributed with three hits and an RBI for Miami. Marlins' right-hander Xzavion Curry (2-2) pitched five strong innings, allowing just one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout. Nathan Lukes provided the lone highlight for Toronto (74-87) with his first career major league home run, a solo shot in the first inning.

Toronto starter Yariel Rodriguez (1-8) gave up three runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. Miami scored two early runs in the first inning off singles by Jonah Bride and Griffin Conine. In the sixth, Myers doubled high off the right-field wall to drive in two more runs, extending Miami's lead.

Myers capped his day with a three-run homer in the eighth inning, his third of the season, to give Miami a commanding 8-1 lead. Darren McCaughan earned his second save for the Marlins, pitching the final four innings and allowing just two hits and a walk.

Toronto's Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 0-for-4, leaving him at 199 hits for the season. Alejandro Kirk also had his 18-game hitting streak snapped, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk.

With Marlins manager Skip Schumaker missing the final two games due to a family medical issue, bench coach Luis Urueta is serving as acting manager.
