Fortune Barisal have signed South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj for the remainder of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season. The Protea spinner has agreed to join Tamim Iqbal’s team, who are currently fourth in the points table.

Maharaj will arrive in Chattogram on February 13 and play his first match against Durdanto Dhaka the next day. He has skipped the domestic four-day competition in South Africa and the second Test against New Zealand to feature in the BPL.

Maharaj was the captain of Durban Super Giants in the SA20 2024, where he led them to the final but lost to Sunrisers Eastern Cape. He also picked up 15 wickets in 13 matches and was the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Maharaj will bolster the spin department of Fortune Barisal, who have four more matches to play in the league stage. He will be playing in the BPL for the first time in his career.
