Oct 17, V7N- Evgeni Malkin scored his 500th career goal, while Sidney Crosby netted the overtime winner and reached 1,600 career points, as the Pittsburgh Penguins secured a 6-5 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday. Malkin became the 48th player in NHL history and only the second Russian (after Alex Ovechkin) to achieve the 500-goal milestone. He also contributed three assists, bringing his NHL-leading total to nine. Crosby, now the 10th player to hit 1,600 points, had one goal and two assists. Other key contributions for Pittsburgh came from Drew O'Connor, Bryan Rust, Jesse Puljujarvi, and Rickard Rakell. Joel Blomqvist made 26 saves in relief of Triston Jarry.

For the Sabres, JJ Peterka scored twice after returning from a concussion, with Tage Thompson, Jordan Greenway, and Ryan McLeod also finding the net. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 37 saves for Buffalo.

Maple Leafs 6, Kings 2: Bobby McMann scored twice in the first period, and Auston Matthews had a goal and two assists as Toronto dominated Los Angeles. Bruins 5, Avalanche 3: David Pastrnak and Hampus Lindholm scored 13 seconds apart in the second period to help Boston defeat Colorado. Ducks 5, Utah 4 (OT): Leo Carlsson scored 54 seconds into overtime to lift Anaheim past Utah. Pavel Mintyukov recorded two goals, while Lukas Dostal made 26 saves for the Ducks. Utah, playing the final game of a four-game road trip, received goals from Michael Kesselring, Jack McBain, and Barrett Hayton.
