Oct 18, V7N- American tennis player Danielle Collins, currently ranked ninth in the world, has reversed her decision to retire at the end of the 2024 season, opting instead to continue her career into 2025. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, the 30-year-old, known for her aggressive playing style and nicknamed "Danimal," shared that her initial plans to retire and start a family were not unfolding as she had hoped.

Collins mentioned that she has been facing health challenges, including a diagnosis of endometriosis, which has complicated her fertility journey. Despite these difficulties, she expressed confidence in the support team she is working with and acknowledged that the process might take longer than expected.

In addition to announcing her decision to continue competing, Collins was also named to the United States team for the upcoming United Cup, a mixed team tournament set to take place in Sydney and Perth. This involvement suggests that she is gearing up for the Australian Open, where she reached the final in 2022, marking her best Grand Slam result to date.

Throughout 2024, Collins had some notable successes, winning titles in Miami and Charleston. However, her season was marred by a heat stroke incident during the Paris Olympics and an early exit from the U.S. Open, where she chose not to take a farewell tribute. Looking ahead, Collins hopes to build on her previous momentum and remain active in her career while navigating her personal challenges. "The only guarantee for now will be some more epic matches," she stated.
