The win lifted Barishal to the third spot on the points table, ahead of Chattogram Challengers on net run rate. Both teams have 10 points from nine matches.

Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians are the top two teams with 14 and 12 points respectively. Durdanto Dhaka suffered their ninth consecutive defeat after winning their opening match against defending champions Comilla by five wickets.

Barishal, who opted to bat first, rode on Tamim’s splendid knock to post a challenging 186-6. Tamim hit seven fours and four sixes and shared a 76-run stand for the first wicket with Ahmed Shehzad, who made 24 off 22 balls. Soumya Sarkar also contributed with a quick-fire 28 off 23 balls, while Mohammad Saifuddin smashed 23 not out off six balls in the end. Alauddin Babu was the most successful bowler for Dhaka with 3-30, while Taskin Ahmed took 2-30. Dhaka’s chase never got going as they lost three wickets for 17 runs in the first two overs.

Alex Ross was the lone fighter for them with an unbeaten 89 off 49 balls, which included five fours and seven sixes. However, he did not get any support from the other batsmen as the next highest score was 12 by Sean Williams. Syed Khaled Ahmed and Saifuddin shared six wickets between them for Barishal, taking 3-26 and 3-31 respectively.
