Oct 22, V7N- The San Francisco 49ers received two major setbacks on Monday regarding wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.

Brandon Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, ending his season. Aiyuk was injured in the final minute of the first half after being hit by two Kansas City defenders. He had 25 catches for 374 yards this season but hadn’t caught a touchdown in seven starts. A second-team All-Pro in 2023, Aiyuk had signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension in August.

In addition, Deebo Samuel was hospitalized with pneumonia-like symptoms and fluid in his lungs. He played only four snaps on Sunday before being ruled out due to breathing difficulties. Samuel has 20 catches for 335 yards and one touchdown this season, along with 51 rushing yards and one rushing TD.

Both players are key parts of the 49ers’ offense, and their absence will be significant as the team, currently 3-4, looks to bounce back in the second half of the season.
