Oct 22, V7N- India's pace bowler Mohammed Shami, now pain-free after undergoing heel surgery earlier this year, is focused on regaining full match sharpness before India’s tour of Australia, which begins next month. Shami has not played for the national team since the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, and while he was nearing full fitness, he had to sit out the ongoing three-test series against New Zealand due to a knee injury.

Shami bowled during a practice session on the final day of the first test against New Zealand and confirmed to the media that he is now pain-free. He mentioned that while he has been bowling with a reduced run-up to avoid putting too much stress on his body, he recently resumed bowling at full capacity.

Shami hopes to play a couple of domestic matches in the Ranji Trophy to regain match fitness before joining the Indian squad for the five-test series in Australia, which starts in Perth on November 22. His experience and fitness will be crucial for India's pace attack in the high-stakes series down under.
