Oct 24, V7N- At the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Alexander Zverev, the No. 1 seed, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Marcos Giron. This win marked Zverev's 61st singles victory of the season, surpassing his previous career-high of 60 wins set in 2018. In the match, he displayed strong serving, hitting 10 aces and converting all three of his break points in just 73 minutes. Zverev will face sixth-seeded Lorenzo Musetti next, who advanced due to a walkover after Gael Monfils withdrew because of illness.
 
In other matches, Matteo Berrettini secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a hard-fought 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3 victory over fifth-seeded Frances Tiafoe, which lasted over three hours. Third-seeded Grigor Dimitrov also progressed, defeating Zhizhen Zhang 6-4, 7-5, while Brandon Nakashima eliminated fourth-seeded Tommy Paul with a straight-sets win of 6-4, 6-4.
 
Over at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, top seed Andrey Rublev moved into the quarterfinals after defeating Alejandro Tabilo 7-6 (3), 6-1. Rublev's performance featured 14 aces, and he saved the only break point he faced. His next opponent will be either Stan Wawrinka or sixth-seeded Ben Shelton. Wawrinka, at 39 years old, made history by becoming the oldest match winner in the tournament's history with his first-round victory over Adrian Mannarino.
 
Additionally, Belgium’s David Goffin reached the quarterfinals after a 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7) victory over fifth-seeded Ugo Humbert. In first-round action, Roberto Bautista Agut eliminated second seed Casper Ruud 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and No. 8 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Argentina’s Sebastian Baez 7-5, 6-1.
