Oct 30, V7N- Anthony Volpe kept the New York Yankees’ World Series hopes alive on Tuesday with a crucial grand slam that powered them to an 11-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game Four. The 23-year-old shortstop, a lifelong Yankees fan, sent a towering 390-foot homer to center field in the third inning, electrifying the sold-out Bronx crowd and putting New York ahead after trailing early. Volpe later scored again in the eighth, adding to a dynamic night for the Yankees' offense.

Supporting Volpe’s heroics, Alex Verdugo contributed an RBI, Austin Wells hit a solo homer, and Gleyber Torres launched a three-run homer. Aaron Judge, who had struggled in the series, chipped in with an RBI to help secure the victory. Volpe described the exhilaration of his grand slam, saying, "I pretty much blacked out as soon as I saw it go over the fence," and credited the team’s faith in each other to keep fighting.

The Dodgers initially appeared poised to take control of the game and series as Freddie Freeman homered in the first inning, marking his fourth consecutive game with a home run in the World Series. However, the Yankees answered in the third when Volpe’s grand slam shifted the momentum.

The game included a strange moment when a fan grabbed Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts’ wrist while he was fielding a catch, adding to the night’s intensity. The Yankees capitalized on the crowd’s energy, as Volpe’s bases-loaded homer sent fans into a frenzy. Wells’ sixth-inning home run and a productive eighth inning with runs from Torres, Volpe, and Judge extended the lead and helped secure New York’s win.

The Yankees’ victory reduces the Dodgers' series lead to 3-1, and Game Five in New York on Wednesday will be another must-win for the Bronx Bombers.
