Oct 31, V7N-Girona advanced to the second round of the Spanish Copa del Rey with a commanding 4-0 victory over fifth-division Club Deportivo Extremadura on Wednesday. The match took place amid a backdrop of tragic flash floods in the Valencia region, which have claimed at least 95 lives, leading to the postponement of several other matches, including those involving Valencia, Levante, Manises, Jove Espanol, and Hercules de Alicante.

Despite being without up to 13 players due to injuries, Girona showcased their dominance over Extremadura. The match began with Bryan Gil opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Unfortunately for Girona, striker Arnaut Danjuma was forced to exit the match early due to a leg injury.

The team's performance improved as Bojan Miovski, who proved to be a standout, scored twice. His first goal came in the 58th minute with a well-placed header, followed by another just four minutes later. Arnau Martinez capped off the scoring with a long-range effort, sealing a comfortable victory for Girona.

In other Copa del Rey action on Wednesday, former Leicester and Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho netted two goals to lead LaLiga side Sevilla to a win over fifth-division Las Rozas, while Celta Vigo triumphed 5-1 against UD San Pedro.

Looking ahead, Atletico Madrid is set to face UE Vic in Barcelona on Thursday as the Copa del Rey continues.
