Shakib Al Hasan continued his remarkable form, notching yet another half-century as Rangpur Riders dominated Chattogram Challengers, securing an emphatic 18-run victory in the 10th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today. With this win, Rangpur solidified its position at the top of the table and secured a spot in the playoffs as the first team to do so.

Rangpur set a challenging total of 187-8 after opting to bat first. Rangpur's disciplined bowling attack put them on course for a comfortable win, but Chattogram's West Indies recruit, Romario Shephard, launched a fierce counterattack, threatening to turn the tide. Shephard's valiant efforts did not prevent Rangpur from containing Chattogram to 169–6. Shephard put up a fierce fight, finishing unbeaten at 66 after hitting five massive sixes and six boundaries in his 30-ball effort.

After Rangpur faltered to 33-2 in the sixth over, Shakib spearheaded their comeback. Chattogram, who removed Rony Talukder (25 off 19) and skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan (5), resisted his aggressive play. Mahedi Hasan was an important support player, scoring a rapid 34 off 17 balls, including four sixes, to put themselves together for a vital 68 runs for the fifth wicket.

Bilal Khan struck a blow by dismissing Mahedi, but Shakib's brilliance propelled Rangpur toward the 200-run mark. Shakib's innings of 62, featuring five fours and three sixes, ended in the penultimate over.

Rangpur's South African recruit, Dwaine Pretorius, wreaked havoc with figures of 3-14 in an uninterrupted four-over spell, dismantling Chattogram's top order. Mahedi Hasan chipped in with 2-17, further destabilizing Chattogram's middle order as Rangpur cruised toward victory.

Despite a spirited effort from Shepherd, Rangpur ultimately sealed the win, leaving Chattogram to rue missed opportunities.
