Khulna Tigers halted their five-match losing streak in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a convincing five-wicket victory over Durdanto Dhaka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.

Despite a pitch that favoured batsmen, Dhaka struggled after opting to bat first, managing a modest total of 128-7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Afif Hossain led the charge with an unbeaten 43 off 21 balls, including two fours and four sixes, that's why Khulna reached 131-5 for their fifth victory. Parvez Hossain Emon provided the initial impetus, smashing two fours and four sixes on his way to a brisk 40 off 30 deliveries.

Dhaka’s pacer Shoriful Islam continued his impressive form, dismissing captain Anamul Haque Bijoy for a first-ball duck and then accounting for Evin Lewis (4) in his next over, leaving Khulna reeling at 17-2 in the third over.

Emon’s counterattack revived Khulna’s innings, while Shai Hope stabilized the side after their shaky start, contributing 32 off 28 balls. Although neither Emon nor Hope finished the game, Afif’s composed innings sealed the victory for Khulna.

Dhaka’s batting woes persisted, with captain Mosaddek Hossain Saikat (23 off 26 balls) emerging as the top scorer among their batters. Alex Ross and Irfan Sukkur both made 25 runs, but their contributions fell short when it mattered most.

Khulna’s South African recruit Wayne Parnell (3-19) and fast bowler Mukidul Islam Mugdho (3-18) wreaked havoc on Dhaka, sharing six crucial wickets between them.
