West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been handed a two-match suspension following his abrupt departure from the field during the team's series-clinching ODI victory over England. Cricket West Indies (CWI) cited Joseph's actions as "conduct falling short of CWI's standards of professionalism."

The incident occurred during Wednesday's game at Kensington Oval in Barbados when Joseph walked off the pitch shortly after dismissing Jordan Cox in the fourth over. The apparent reason for his departure was frustration with the fielding setup arranged by captain Shai Hope. His brief absence left the West Indies with only 10 players on the field before he returned in the sixth over.

CWI director of cricket, Miles Bascombe, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that Joseph’s conduct did not align with the organization’s core values. "Such conduct cannot be overlooked, and we have taken decisive action to ensure the gravity of the situation is fully acknowledged," Bascombe said.

Joseph, 27, issued an apology in the statement, expressing regret over his behavior. He apologized to captain Hope, his teammates, and fans, saying, “My passion got the best of me... I understand that even a brief lapse in judgment can have a far-reaching impact, and I deeply regret any disappointment caused."
