Noah Lyles, the current 100m and 200m world champion, claimed the 60m gold medal at the US Indoor Championships in New Mexico, beating Christian Coleman, the 60m world record holder, in a close race. Lyles clocked a world-leading and personal best time of 6.43 seconds, edging out Coleman by 0.01 seconds, to secure his spot on the US team for the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. In the women’s 60m final, Aleia Hobbs emerged victorious with a time of 7.02 seconds, overtaking her training partner Mikiah Brisco in the final meters. Hobbs and Brisco had both qualified for the world championships with their performances in the semi-finals. Hobbs, who won the US outdoor title in 2018, will be looking to add another medal to her collection in Glasgow.

In the men’s shot put, Ryan Crouser, the two-time Olympic champion, dominated the event with a throw of 22.60 meters, breaking his own championship record. Crouser, who also holds the world indoor record of 22.82 meters, will be aiming to win his first world indoor title in Glasgow, after finishing second in 2022.
