Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim delivered a stellar performance, scoring his maiden T20 century and leading Chattogram Challengers to a resounding 65-run victory over Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The match, held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, witnessed an outstanding display of batting prowess from Tanzid, securing Chattogram's spot in the playoffs.

Tanzid's remarkable knock of 116 runs off just 65 balls was adorned with eight boundaries and an equal number of sixes, propelling Chattogram to a formidable total of 192-4. Despite a pitch favouring batsmen, Chattogram's bowlers defended the target effectively, limiting Khulna to 127 all out in 19.5 overs.

This victory not only ensured Chattogram's passage to the playoffs but also confirmed Comilla Victorians' qualification to the last-four stage. Both teams now sit on 14 points, with Comilla securing the second spot due to a superior run rate.

BPL-2024 Point Table

Khulna Tigers now find themselves in a must-win situation in their upcoming match against Sylhet Strikers. They also depend on a defeat for Fortune Barishal against Comilla Victorians. Meanwhile, Rangpur, the table-toppers, have already secured their place in the playoffs.

Fresh from his impressive innings of 70 runs against Dhaka in the previous match, Tanzid once again led from the front, guiding Chattogram despite an early setback that saw his opening partner, Mohammad Waseem, dismissed for just 1 run.

Tanzid formed crucial partnerships, including a 56-run stand with Shykat Ali and an imposing 110-run partnership with Tom Bruce. Bruce, unbeaten on 26 off 23 balls, provided valuable support during the late onslaught, ensuring Chattogram reached a commanding total.

In response, Khulna struggled against Chattogram's bowling attack, with only three batsmen managing to reach double figures. Captain Anamul Haque Bijoy top-scored with 35 runs, while Shai Hope contributed 31 runs before falling victim to Chattogram captain Shuvagata Hom's bowling.

Hom's impressive figures of 3-25, supported by Bilal Khan's 2-13, stifled Khulna's batting lineup, ultimately securing Chattogram's comprehensive victory.

Khulna's batting vulnerability was evident as they suffered their sixth defeat in the last seven matches, underscoring the team's challenges in the ongoing BPL season.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Chattogram Challengers and sets the stage for an exciting playoff campaign as they vie for the BPL title.
