The Detroit Lions have elevated veteran safety Jamal Adams from the practice squad to the active roster for Thursday night's matchup against their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers. The Lions, boasting the NFL's best record at 11-1, face a Packers team sitting at 9-3.

Adams' Journey to Detroit

Adams, 29, started the season with the Tennessee Titans but requested and received his release on October 17. Drafted sixth overall in 2017 by the New York Jets, Adams was later traded to Seattle in 2020, where he signed a four-year, $70 million extension. However, injuries limited his impact, as he played just 34 games in four seasons with the Seahawks. This year, Adams appeared in three games for the Titans, recording four tackles.

In his 83-game career (81 starts), Adams has totaled 498 tackles, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 36 passes defended, seven forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. He earned three Pro Bowl selections (2018-2020) and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 2019.

Additional Roster Moves

The Lions also elevated linebacker Mitchell Agude to the game-day roster and signed wide receiver Maurice Alexander from the practice squad, who will handle punt and kickoff returns in place of the injured Kalif Raymond (now on injured reserve).

Detroit will miss four injured starters:

OT Taylor Decker (knee)

DL DJ Reader (shoulder)

DL Josh Paschal (knee)

DL Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring)

Additional inactives include CB Emmanuel Moseley, G Kayode Awosika, and OT Giovanni Manu.

Green Bay's injury list features notable absences, including CB Jaire Alexander (knee) and WR Romeo Doubs. Other inactives are CB Corey Ballentine, LB Edgerrin Cooper, and OL Jacob Monk.

The highly anticipated divisional showdown at Ford Field could further solidify Detroit's dominance or offer Green Bay a chance to close the gap in the NFC North race.
