Dec 11, (V7N) - Bangladesh's stand-in captain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, acknowledged that the lack of partnerships from the top-order batters contributed to their defeat in the second ODI against the West Indies, which sealed the series loss for Bangladesh. This marked the first time since 2014 that Bangladesh had lost an ODI series to the West Indies. Bangladesh were bowled out for 227, with Mahmudullah (62) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (45) rescuing the team with a 92-run partnership after they were reduced to 115-7. Despite their efforts, the total was considered insufficient on a pitch that favored batting.

Miraz pointed out that Bangladesh failed to build partnerships in the middle overs, and praised the West Indies' bowling, particularly Jayden Seales, who took 4 wickets for 22 runs, dismantling the top order. He acknowledged the challenge of defending 228, especially after their strong initial spell with the ball.

West Indies captain, Shai Hope, expressed satisfaction with the series win but emphasized the importance of finishing strong with a 3-0 sweep. He highlighted the significance of securing points for direct qualification to the next ODI World Cup, adding that every match was crucial for their campaign. Despite already winning the series, Hope made it clear that the team would not relax, with their sights set on winning the final game to complete the sweep.
