DHAKA, Jan 01 (V7N ) – Mahidul Islam Ankon smashed an 18-ball half-century, the fastest by a Bangladeshi in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), as Khulna Tigers secured a commanding 37-run victory over Chittagong Kings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Khulna Tigers’ Batting Brilliance
Opting to bat first, Khulna Tigers posted an imposing 203-4, led by a scintillating knock from William Bosisto, who scored 75 off 50 balls, including eight boundaries and three sixes.
However, it was Mahidul Islam Ankon who stole the limelight with an explosive unbeaten 59 off just 22 deliveries, featuring six sixes. His record-breaking fifty turned the game decisively in Khulna's favor, as the Tigers hammered 60 runs in the last three overs.
Chittagong’s bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught. While Aliss Al Islam was economical, taking 2-17 in his four overs, the rest, including Shoriful Islam and Khaled Ahmed, leaked runs at an alarming rate of over 11 runs per over.
