Mirpur, Jan 02 (V7N)— Taskin Ahmed etched his name in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history by becoming the first bowler to claim 7 wickets in an innings. His stunning performance helped Durbar Rajshahi restrict Dhaka to a modest total of 174 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

On a foggy morning, Dhaka won the toss and opted to bat. However, Taskin’s fiery opening spell dismantled their top order. Liton Das fell for a duck after facing five balls, bowled out by a brilliant delivery from Taskin. Tanjid Hasan Tamim followed soon after, managing just 9 runs off 10 balls, leaving Dhaka struggling at 14/2.

English recruit Stephen Eskenazi and Shahadat Hossain Dipu briefly stabilized the innings, adding 93 runs for the third wicket. Eskenazi scored a brisk 46 off 29 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes, before falling to Hasan Murad. Dipu reached his half-century with a knock of 50 off 41 balls, featuring 7 fours, but he became Taskin’s third victim.

Taskin then unleashed his devastating second spell, ripping through the lower order. Chaturanga de Silva (1), Alauddin Babu (13), Mukidul Islam (0), and Shubham Ranjan (24 off 13) all fell prey to his precise bowling. Nazmul Islam remained unbeaten on 1 as Dhaka were bowled out for 174.

Taskin’s extraordinary figures of 7 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs are now the best bowling performance in BPL history. His heroics left Rajshahi with a target of 175 to chase for victory.

This remarkable feat underscores Taskin Ahmed’s prowess as one of the finest bowlers in Bangladesh cricket, further solidifying his reputation on the T20 stage.
